Melanie became a Herrmann Certified HBDI® Practitioner in 2012 and has worked with medical facilities across the country to bring Whole Brain® Thinking concepts to their work environment to assist with improved communication, targeted learning, and leadership development.
Melanie has over a decade of experience in the government and private healthcare settings as well as experience a healthcare consultant. She completed her residencies at Community Health Network and specialized in primary care. During her time at the Indianapolis VA Medical center she held a number of positions. including the Pharmacy Staff Development Program Manager which focused on educational and professional growth for the staff. She helped design and initiate a number of residency and training programs at the facility including the VALOR program, various post-graduate year (PGY) 2 residency programs, and the nontraditional PGY1 program and served as a residency program director. The PGY1 Nontraditional Pharmacy Residency was the first nontraditional pharmacy residency in the Department of Veterans Affairs. Melanie has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences since 2003. She has also been involved in the development, initiation, and expansion of a number of new pharmacy services including disease state management services, patient assistance program management, and coding and billing of cognitive pharmacy services. She served as the project manager for the development of the VISN 10 Pharmacy Call Center West (formerly VISN 11 Pharmacy Call Center) which serves approximately 300,000 veterans.
